The course deals with the economic and institutional analysis of various firm types. Main topics: general theory of the firm (basic), the economics of cooperative firms with special emphasis on worker and consumer cooperatives, the economics of the non-profit sector. The approach is that of political economy but the course also provides insights into the institutional aspects of these organizations and reviews empirical data on the cooperative and non-profit sectors.
