Learning Objectives
The course aims at improving the capacities of personal and analytical assessment of local and industrial development issues in developed and emerging countries. It is based on approaches of industrial economics and policy, and on theories and models of open local development and of policies of local industrial development, in particular highlighting the perspectives of internazionalization and international cooperation
Prerequisites
Requirements: as those for the admission to the Laurea Magistrale in Scienze dell’Economia and in Development Economics.

Classes will be held in form of traditional lectures, exercises, seminars and participatory discussions. Attendance is mandatory for those who want to access the programme for attending students. Handouts and other materials will be distributed in class by the instructor.

Attendance is mandatory for those who want access to the programme for attending students.
If a student misses a class it will be his/her responsibility to catch up with what he missed (notes, readings, assignments, etc.). To this aim, each attending student will sign up to the e-learning platform of the course.
Attending students may substitute an essay for part of the themes of the oral examination. The topic will be choosen with the help of the teacher. The content of the essay will be exposed in class by the student. The written essay will be forwarded to the teacher before the exam.
If a student misses more than 30% of the scheduled class hours s/he will not be considered as attending student.
Students are required to behave properly within the school premises. Classrooms are to be left in order and clean. Students must take care of available equipment and materials and promptly report any damage or loss.

Written Exam (answers) and Oral examination for non attending students. Presentations and essays on case-studies and oral examination for attending students.

- Local analysis with respect to forms of enterprises and teams, local labour markets, social capital, innovation processes and regional systems, international strategies of productive systems;
- Policies of local industrial development and system-based approaches to support to industrial development within evolving local/regional/national contexts, with particular regard to the role of specific public;
- Integrated Sustainable Human Development at the Local Level and case studies;
- Comparisons and trans-local collaborations between advanced and emerging economies.
