The purpose of this course is to give students legal instruments to understand the functioning of the international community in a legal perspective.

Course program
The course is divided into two parts.
During the first part focus will be on the following topics:
- origins and the main current features of the international community;
- subjects of international law;
- sources of international law;
- relationship between international law and internal laws of States;
The second part will be devoted to the following topics:
- immunity of State and State officials
- use of force
- mechanisms for peaceful settlement of disputes
- international responsibility of States.
