Learning Objectives
To equipe students with the fundamental elements necessary to intervene, through proper cost management, in the efficiency and effectiveness of a company's activity, both in the short and the long term.
Prerequisites
It is suggested the examination of Programming and control.

Class lessons: 50 hours
Seminars: 22 hours
Type of Assessment
At the end of the course students will sit an oral exam.
Students who attend lessons can choose among one of the following seminars: Kaizen Costing; Cost Management in the lean production; Service Management Cost: Overhead Value Analysis; "extraordinary" management of support processes; "ordinary" management of support processes; Total Cost of Ownership; the integration of different tools for Cost Management. Attending students who decide not to choose a seminar and non attending students will be examined also on one topic of their choice among those above mentioned.
Course program
Cost Management: origins, concept, applied domains, synthesis of distinctives features. Activity-Based Costing: traditional Accounting and ABC, application, targets. Target Costing (features, fundamental principles, performance) and its supporting tools (functional analysis and cost tables). Bi-dimensional model ABC/ABM whith special reference to process management. ABC/ABM as a supporting tool in decision making and continuous improvement. Open Book Accounting: concept, targets, typologies, application.
Further, students have to choose one of the following topics: Kaizen Costing; Cost Management in the lean production; service management cost: Overhead Value Analysis; the "extraordinary" management of support processes; the "ordinary" management of support processes; Total Cost of Ownership; the integration of different tools for Cost Management.
