Spanish

Students expand their knowledge of L 2 through the study and analysis of more complex grammatical and communicative structures and through the constant practice of the new acquired linguistic skills used in real life situations and daily communication.
65% of the lesson content will be based on the microlanguage used for specific purposes.

Knowledge
Learn the most important sociocultural aspects of the countries where Spanish is spoken, with particular reference to chosen fields of study.
Acquire and/oder strengthen the structural, communicative and linguistic modes typical of the B 1 and B 2 level in general, and more specifically of the microlanguage (tourism - economy).
Skills
Consolidate the following skills: communicate with simple and direct dialogue relating to common and known experiences;
master the L2 for general communication in the four skills (reading, listening and oral);
acquire the specific microlanguage vocabulary necessary to interact in professional fields and contexts;
organize, document, and present services and products related to the curriculum using traditional microlinguistic communication tools, or where possible, even multimedia ones;
acquire and enhance the most effective communication tools to intervene in relevant organizational and professional contexts.

At the end of the course the students will be able to hold a conversation in Spanish on general and specific topics of the curriculum; they will be also able to present in oral form a product or a service and simulate work situations

Required linguistic level: A2 (CEFR), necessary to follow the course structured at a B1/B2 level (CEFR).
It is highly recommended that students, who do not meet the required linguistic level, attend courses offered by the University Language Center (Novoli). Language certifications of any level issued by the “Instituto Cervantes” (DELE) will not be accepted in place of the examination.

This semester the classes will be carried out in a distance learning mode (frontal classes /multimedia lessons using a communicative approach with particular focus on the performance of real tasks and authentic material so the student learns to deal with real and problematic contexts).

1) Exam methodology for the Language Proficiency Test for attending students

Oral exam to assess the student's interactive and communicative skills as per the linguistic goals (morphosyntactic, grammatical, lexical, functional) of the B 1 and B 2 level (CEFR) in the L2 in general and, specifically, in the microlanguage of the subject matter studied during the course. Only students, who for serious reasons couldn’t choose and present one of the topics covered during the course, will do it during the final exam. Lastly, the student will be interrogated on selected pages of "Las venas abiertas de América Latina" by Eduardo Galeano.


2) Exam methodology for the Language Proficiency Test for non-attending students
The oral exam includes, in addition to questions on the topics studied and based on the texts indicated in the Syllabus, the attainment of the linguistic goals (refer above to the Exam methodology for the Language Proficiency Test for attending students), and the presentation of one of the topics selected from those studied in the course.
The research paper will be 3 pages long and must be submitted by email to the teacher at least 10 days prior to the exam date.
Questions will be ev. asked on the grammar and vocabulary related to the research paper with a discussion about the selected topic.
Lastly, the student will be interrogated on selected pages of "Las venas abiertas de América Latina" (E. Galeano). Pdf-book on model: pages to study: 15-81, 177-181, 267-337.

3) Exam duration: About 15/20 minutes.
4) The exam will be preferably online, possibile changes according to ministerial provisions will be comunicated as soon as possible
5) Final result: 6 CFU
