Learning Objectives
The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of human resource management and its application in contemporary organizations. The course has been developed to offer the conceptual fundamentals to start a career in HRM.
By the end of the course students should be able to:
Manage the basics of HRM.
Explain the strategic role of HR
Define the logical progression of HR “Planning”;
Recognize the importance of effective job analysis and design.
Be familiar with selection and recruitment processes.
Understand and govern the process of training and development of HR.
Be acquainted with and apply performance appraisal techniques and processes.
Design a pay structure and describe how to recognize employee contributions with pay and benefits.
The course balances conceptual knowledge with practical application. In general, lectures will provide a broad overview of the topic and explain key concepts to be used to understand the real phenomenon of the business world. Cases, selected on the basis of their relevance to the course content, will be discussed in class in order to develop students’ skills in applying this knowledge to practical situations.
Prerequisites
No prerequisite is required but it is recommended to have taken the Organizational design exam.
Teaching Methods
Traditional lectures, project works in groups, case studies.

Type of Assessment
The final exam will be written. However, an oral exam will be considered only in case of a passing grade of the written exam.
