Course Content
Elements of competitive analysis of local sectors and systems.
Approaches: sector analysis in the perspective of industrial, corporate, urban-regional and evolutionary economics.
Concepts: sector, supply chain, districts, clusters, networks, cities and regions
Methods: case studies, narrative, statistical analysis, social network analysis, bibliometric analysis, text mining and other quantitative methodologies.

Learning Objectives
Advanced competitive analysis course aimed at integrating and developing multidisciplinary knowledge, through a theoretical and empirical analysis. The multiplicity of theoretical perspectives and of the presented methodologies has the objective of increasing the critical abilities of the student, also through the application to case studies.
Teaching Methods
The course includes lectures and classroom activities and a group work (4-5 students) on an assigned topic, which will then be presented in the classroom.
Type of Assessment
Attending students: Written exam with 8-10 open-ended questions on the various topics of the course. Duration of the written test is two hours.
The assessment will also be based on the drafting and presentation in the classroom of a group Project Work (4-5 students) on an assigned topic that will have a weight of 33% on the grade of the module.
Non-attending students: Oral exam with 4-5 questions.
Course program
Analysis of the competitive environment at the enterprise / sector / local system level according to a multidisciplinary, local-global approach. Analysis unit: companies, business networks, clusters and districts, cities, regions and country systems. Particular insights will be devoted to the relationships between cluster and district theory, to the methodologies for identifying local systems and to the study of networks, through seminars relating to innovation networks, creative networks and business networks. The main subject of analysis will then be the theme of the economic, social and technological enhancement of culture and creativity with particular reference to the cultural and creative sectors and the role of culture in the digital revolution.
