Learning Objectives
The course aims at providing the basic knowledge of public law conceived as a tool to regulate territorial a polity and to guarantee a dialogue in contemporary divided and/or plural societies.
Specific skills of legal research, analysis and comparative methods will be developed during the course, so to encourage students to critically discuss present and past jurisdictions.
At the end of the course, those who will have attended it fruitfully should be able to find all the sources and materials needed to discuss constitutional issues. They should master the matter the basic methodological tools and fundamentals of the discipline to compare different constitutional experiences and to be able to express structured and informed opinions

Teaching Methods
Frontal teaching lessons. The active participation of students is appreciated and stimulated in the form of questions and identification of the issues inherent in the course program on which to exercise the knowledge and skills in the course acquired in relation to important topics in the contemporary constitutional debate

The examination will be conducted in this way during the year unless there are contrary provisions due to the pandemic emergency
Course program
For ATTENDING students, the course program will be illustrated during the first lesson
For NON-ATTENDING students: legal norms and their characters; legal system and its pluralism; State and its elements; the source system; representation; forms of direct democracy; constitutional bodies (Parliament, Government, Head of State) and judicial review; European Union; the comparative method; the form of government and its declinations in some contemporary legal systems.

Because of these objectives, there will be two seminars held by experts on environmental and gender equality issues
