Communication as a tool for deconstructing violence and promoting empathy
Understanding how the dynamics of inequality, affective and cultural deprivation, hardship, and dropping out of school are related to conflicts.
Identifying the values of kindness and their contribution to peace education.
Autonomy of judgment in being able to evaluate, without judging, the contexts and phenomena that arise, from the perspective of analyzing the dynamics, seeking one's own and others' well-being, developing communicative, dialogic and creative skills
Communication skills centered on empathic communication, the value of kindness, respect for one's own and other's dignity.
Knowledge of aspects that characterize forms of racism and anti-Semitism.
Understanding of how educational and training interventions can generate or manage situations of conflict and/or violence. Understanding of the use of communication and relational strategies to prevent, mediate, accompany and manage conflict.

Teaching Methods
Lectures with exchange of views and debates
Group work to design shared presentations and construction of Debate interventions. Individual and group exercises
Meeting with experts.
Type of Assessment
The tests will be conducted in the following ways:
Attending students will prepare papers on some of the program texts and organize Debate papers.
Periodically, tutorials will be assigned every two weeks.
For the final exam, it is necessary to have done all the written exercises, to have uploaded them to the moodle page in the specified time and to have collected them in a single document to be uploaded to the course moodle page, one week before the exam.
Non-attending Students should also prepare the written document containing all the exercises and upload it one week before the exam.
For attending students, the exam will be conducted with a written exercise on two topics of their choice indicated.
For non-attending students, the written paper will be structured on two open questions and an oral examination.
Course program
The course will begin with an introduction to the meanings and theoretical aspects of social pedagogy necessary to understand the importance of the aspects involved in training and educating children in the dimensions of peace and well-being.
Then some models of peace education and the issues related to the aspects that characterize relationship and communication will be presented. In connection with this, aspects concerning the dynamics of personal and interpersonal conflicts, their nature and intervention proposals for their management will be identified Nonviolent communication and the contribution of dialogue and empathic relationship in deconstructing conflicts, developing well-being, participation, democracy, and ecological awareness will then be considered.
