Learning Objectives
The purpose of this course is to give an introduction to human resource management and its relevance in modern-day organisations. It has been designed to provide the necessary foundational knowledge for those looking to pursue a career in HRM.
By the end of the course, students should be able to:
- Manage the basics of Human Resource Management.
- Explain the strategic role of HR for organizations.
- Define the logical progression of HR “Planning”;
- Recognize the importance of effective job analysis and design.
- Be familiar with selection and recruitment processes.
- Understand and govern the process of training and development of HR.
- Be acquainted and apply performance appraisal techniques and processes.
- Be able to design a pay structure and describe how to recognize employee contributions with pay and benefits.
Prerequisites
No prerequisite is required but it is recommended to have taken the Organizational design exam.
Teaching Methods
Traditional lectures, project works in groups, case studies and presentations in class.
Type of Assessment
The final exam will be written. In the event that a passing grade is achieved on the written exam, there is an additional option of taking an oral examination.
