The course aims to address the main concepts related to the organization design and the management of human resources in the hospitality and tourism sectors. Specific focus will be given to organizational constructs such as organizational structures, leadership and organizational culture. In addition, students will be provided with an overview of main issues in Human Resource Management practices in the tourism sector.

Obiettivi Formativi
The course aims to develop knowledge and competece for the analysis and organizational design of companies operating in the tourist-receptive sector. Students will also acquire the core knowledge about human resource management and development with specific focus on the peculiarities of tourism sector.

Modalità di verifica apprendimento
Written exam, consisting of four open questions. The time allowed for the exam is two hours. Each question is valid up to a maximum of 7.5 points. In the written exam there are no differences between attending and non-attending students.
Attending students will be invited to participate actively during the lessons by performing exercises and presentations in class, and presenting at the end of the course a group project work. Participation in this activity allows between 0 to 3 points increase in the final examination grade.
Programma del corso
The course program is divided into two areas. In the first part, devoted to the 'Organization Design in the Tourism Industry', the concepts of organizational dimensions of the tourist enterprise will be discussed, defining the peculiarities of these types of service companies, addressing the theme of ethics and describing the evolution of the theories underlying the discipline of the organization studies. The course will focus on aspects such as management principles, leadership, organizational structure design, managing environmental changes and organizational culture. In the second part of the course, dedicated to the 'The People Management in the Tourism Industry', the course will introduce the peculiarities of human resource management in the tourist sector by addressing human resource management and development activities, also referring to the specific features of international companies and event organizations.
