The joint seminar aims at providing the students with an overview of economic aspects of undernutrition and obesity. Students will learn how undernutrition and obesity are measured, what are the socio-economic determinants of each of them, their consequences on people wellbeing, and policies that can be implemented to address these issues.
Learning Objectives
The overall objective is to get students acquainted with the concepts of food security and nutrition measurement and analysis.
Prerequisites
No formal prerequisite is required. However, knowledge of introductory microeconomics, development economics and econometrics is welcome
Teaching Methods
Each topic will be presented as a blend of theoretical constructs (concepts, models) and empirical evidence based on the most relevant/recent papers
Type of Assessment
The instructors will propose some topics and provide selected references to guide the development of a review paper to be developed by students. The review paper will be presented by proposers and discussed with all participants to the Joint Seminar
