The course presents fundamentals of innovation management and introduces students to the strategies and processes of social innovation and societal change. A first part provides an overview of innovation and fundamentals. A second part deals with social innovation and innovations within the social sector. The third part focuses on innovation in the context of the sustainability transition of organisations and firms.

Obiettivi Formativi
At the end of the course students should be able to:
- Understand and analyse the typologies, context, sources and patterns of innovation;
- Understand the role of collaborations, open context and localities for innovation;
- Understand the elements that contribute to innovation and social innovation success;
- Identify the impediments to innovation and social innovation success;
- Apply theoretical concepts to real cases and discuss implications;
- Understand the elements that contribute to resilience of organisations;
- Understand the opportunities for organisation to generate social and environmental value.
The course aims to:
- Strengthen students' understanding on innovation processes and social innovation;
- Prepare students to work effectively within a social innovation context and in the scenario of sustainability transition;
- Increase students own personal career success.
Prerequisiti
Fundamentals of Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Business Ethics or a general course in Management (to be certified).

The written exam will be held in D15 bulding in a PC room on eval.unifi.it (a Moodle “add-on”). (Students must have their credentials to login in Moodle).
The exam is composed of two parts. First part is composed by 30 multiple choices questions in 30 minutes. Second part includes 3 open questions in 45 minutes. Students can access the second part if they get a grade at least of 14/30 on the first part.
Programma del corso
The course presents fundamentals of innovation management and introduces students to the strategies and processes of social innovation and societal change. The course is organized into three parts.
The first part provides an overview of innovation in general and deals with innovation sources, typologies and diffusion dynamics. A particular focus will be devoted to the themes of typologies of innovation, business context of innovation, closed/open innovation, open sources/crowdfounding process and networks. The second part deals with social innovation by introducing students to current innovations within the social sector. This parts deals with theoretical basis of social innovations, creating shared value, disruptive social innovation and the fourth sector emergence.
The third part of the course focuses on innovation in the context of the sustainability transition of organisations and firms. Specific topics afforded in this part are the resilience theory, the role of innovation in green and twin transition, the social and environmental value of organisations and data and indicators for sustainability.
