Bachelor's and Master's Degree Programmes

The School of Economics and Management offers four Bachelor’s degree programmes (full-time duration: three years):

- Business Administration (EA) - Degree Class L-18

- Economics and Commerce (EC) - Degree Class L-33

- Statistics - Degree Class L-41

- Sustainable development, cooperation and conflict management (SECI-OP) - Degree Class L-37

Sustainable Business for Societal Challenges - Degree Class L-18

In order to be admitted to a Bachelor's program, you need to have good basic preparation, which presupposes knowing how to interpret a text, the ability to develop rigorous logical reasoning, and reasonable mathematical skills. Precisely in order to self-assess these skills, the School of Economics and Management requires students who intend to enrol in a Bachelor's degree program to take an entry knowledge test.

In order to evaluate the contents and the possible outlets of each of these degree programmes, it should be considered, first of all, that studies in economics are characterized by addressing four main thematic areas namely: Economics; Management; Statistics and Mathematics; Law.
Each degree program offers a different mix of these skills, consistent with its Degree Class.

The degree courses that traditionally have the highest number of enrolled students - Business Administration (EA) and Economics and Commerce (EC) - share all the first-year subjects and part of the second-year subjects. Subsequently, the former is directed toward the disciplines of the management area; the latter toward the disciplines of the economic area. In this way it is possible to guarantee all students a solid preparation in the fundamental knowledge of economics and, at the same time, each student will have more time to find their way and consciously choose in which direction to deepen their studies, without having to face painful retracements.
The focus on basic preparation has not, however, reduced that on the needs of the industry. The fruitful experience of the decentralized campuses in Prato and Pistoia is, in fact, reabsorbed within the courses, respectively, in EA and EC through the creation of two professionally-oriented paths: the one in Management, Internationalization and Quality, within Business Administration; the one in Tourism and Territory, within the program in Economics and Commerce.

The first-level (bachelor) range of programmes offered by the School of Economics and Management includes the degree in Statistics and the one in Economic Development, International Socio-health Cooperation and Conflict Management (SECI-OP).
By enrolling in the first one, you as a student will face subjects mostly with a quantitative content, that is based on mathematics and computer science, thus acquiring fundamental knowledge for the application of statistical methods and models for the representation and measurement of economic, social, demographic, medical phenomena, etc. Moreover, students enrolled in this course have the opportunity of continuous contact with teachers and can participate in research activities that the Department carries out, thus experiencing a direct and immediate verification of the knowledge acquired during your academic path.

With the SECI-OP Degree, on the other hand, you will receive an education characterized by a strongly interdisciplinary trait. The field of studies on economic development and international cooperation aims to provide students with the essential tools for understanding the reality of the contemporary world, the problems related to economic growth and sustainable development, the policies to fight poverty and the processes of democratization and globalization currently underway. This degree also provides the knowledge and skills necessary to train experienced professionals in peacebuilding and conflict mediation processes.

The main objective of the Degree program in Sustainable Business for Societal Challenges concerns the management of the economic and social changes currently occurring in society, with a particular focus on the related challenges and opportunities. The ultimate goal is to offer a highly innovative Study Program, thanks to the specific interdisciplinary content taught, as well as the modern teaching methods adopted. The Degree is entirely taught in English and provides students with theoretical and managerial skills in order to successfully manage social innovation and spur social entrepreneurship, which is aimed at achieving a positive social impact in the external society, as well as a better inclusion of all agents with a particular attention to vulnerable groups (i.e., people with disabilities, migrants, individuals with gender identities, the elderly). The program is also aimed at helping students understand how manage the territory and the necessary resources to improve the well-being of communities.

All degree programmes offered by the School of Economics and Management provide a preparation that allows immediate entry into the workforce or the continuation of studies in a Master's degree program.

The School of Economics and Management offers seven Master’s degree programmes (full-time duration: two years):

Accounting for Chartered Accountants (Degree Class LM-77)

- Design of Sustainable Tourism Systems (Degree Class LM-49) - course delivered entirely in English

- Economics and Development (Degree Class LM-56) - course delivered entirely in English

- Finance and Risk Management (Degree Class LM-16) - course delivered entirely in English

- Corporate Governance and Business Administration (Degree Class LM-77)

- Economic Sciences (Degree Class LM-56)

- Statistics and Data Science (Degree Class LM-82)

Despite the fact that Bachelor's degree programmes already offer a good preparation to enter the workforce, we realize that today's reality is increasingly complex and requires more in-depth knowledge to interpret and govern it. The School of Economics and Management responds to this need by offering the above-mentioned Master's Degree Courses which, as in the case of first-level training, cover, in coherence with its own Class, the four main thematic areas on which studies in Economics are focused.

This rich educational offer is inspired by three guiding criteria: innovation in teaching, international openness, communication. These three criteria are essential to open the doors to a wide range of jobs: business managers, public administrators, managers of tourist events, chartered accountants, quality control managers, financial experts, actuaries, professional statisticians, members of study centres of agencies and institutions.
